About this equipment

Original built as a freight and passenger liner for the African Steamship Company (Elder Dempster & Company). In 1897 owned by the Atlantic Transport Co. Ltd. of London and renamed Grant.
In 1902 purchased by the US Army Corps of Engineers and converted into a TSHD, named Chinook.
5658 grt / 3646 nrt / ON: 99066 (UK) / 600 nhp

Scrapped in 1946 in the USA.
