About

Danyard A/S, a Danish shipyard group with headquarters in Frederikshavn. Danyard was originally a common name for the Lauritzen Group's shipyards in Frederikshavn, Helsingor and Alborg. The shipyard in Frederikshavn was founded in 1870 as H.V. Buhls Traeskibsvaerft and in 1913 became Frederikshavn Vaerft & Flydedok A/S. This was later expanded and developed into a technologically advanced and modern newbuilding and repair yard, from 1987 under the name Danyard A/S. Here, among other things, refrigerated ships and chemical tankers in series, bulk carriers, smaller container ships as well as military patrol vessels and inspection ships. The shipyard in Frederikshavn was closed in 1999 due to heavy losses on newbuildings. The company's other activities were transferred to Danyard Holding, which in Aalborg builds special ships from carbon fiber materials for the Danish navy and hulls for yachts.
