Livingstone and Cooper of Hessle was a shipbuilding company which was initially operated by the Cooper family. In .1910 became a partnership with Livingstone. Up to WWI the yard built standard coasters and naval tugs. After the war it went on to build a series of coasters. However, this work soon ran out. During the 1920s the yard built whatever it was asked to do. This included a large motor tanker: Otokia, which although completed in September 1925, had drained the company of its resources. Consequently the yard closed soon after.
