Flintstone

Het systeem zal voorzien zijn van een flexibele gesloten valpijp. De flexibiliteit – een absolute must om breuk te vermijden bij beweging onderwater – wordt bekomen door toepassing van een totaal nieuwe kogelvormige dubbele bajonetkoppeling waarmee alle pijpsecties (12 m lang elk) aaneengezet worden.
 
Het ‘gesloten’ valpijpsysteem waarborgt een perfecte en exact te controleren steenbestorting, waarbij het mengsel breuksteen/water te allen tijde stuurbaar is omdat de inflow van procesvreemd water vermeden wordt.
Dit integrale valpijpsysteem (kogelvormige en dubbele bajonetkoppeling, sluitings-mechanisme, opbouwsysteem, ophangsysteem) is door DEME gepatenteerd.
Dit valpijpsysteem is bestemd voor het valpijpschip “Flintstone” (19.000 ton draagvermogen), dat volledig ontworpen werd – zowel zijn valpijpsysteem als zijn R.O.V. (Remote Operated Vehicle) – om efficiënt te werken op superdieptes tot 2000 m.
