General information

In 1962 Bristol Sand & Dredging merged with F. Bowles & Sons to form British Dredging Co. In the 1960s the company expanded from the Bristol Channel to the North Sea, and the dredging companies  Arthur Sessions & Sons, (Cardiff). The Commercial Dry Dock Co. (Cardiff) and Western Dredging (Newport) were taken over.
In the 1970s the company suffered from the recession and had to sell of some of its activities, and was named British Dredging Aggregates Ltd. In Bristol it formed a joint venture with Holms Sand and Gravel from Bristol, The East Coast activities were sold to the RMC group and renamed East Coast Aggregates Ltd.
In 2000 the remaing activities (mainly in the Bristol Channel) became known as RMC Bristol.
