About this company

General information

Goiffon & Jorre was founded in 1881 in Paris. Registered address:17 Rue de Berlin (tel:247-07).  Later addresses are: 97 Rue de Rome, and 22 Athenes (both in Paris).
The company specialised in difficult work, disdained by others, such as dredging at sewer outlets. To do this, it had a fleet of dredges, unloading machines and boxed barges. Its tugs pulled these non-motorized vehicles.
The company played a big part in the works for the logistic Port Militaire de Bonneuil-sur-Marne in 1916-1917 during WWI.

In its early days, the company would have sent boats as far as Russia; legend has it that the company colors (red on white) were borrowed during these voyages from the Polish flag. In 1960, G & J owned 34 boats, including a few tugs. The company then passed under the control of Morillon-Corvol in 1962 (which has since become Entreprise Morillon-Corvol-Courbot, EMCC).
