Kampung Som Port

    Cambodia's only modern commercial port.The southwest of the country is located on the East Bank of the south mouth of pangxun Bay.Outside the port, there are 218 nautical miles to sotoyi port in Thailand, 420 nautical miles to Ho Chi Minh port in Vietnam, 603 nautical miles to Singapore port and 1210 nautical miles to Guangzhou port in China. The commercial wharves of the port are located on both sides of the jetty extending westward from the northwest corner of the land bank and then turning southwest. There are two berths on the west side of the jetty, which can allow ships with draft of 9.5 meters to dock;There are also two berths in the East, but only ships with a draught of 7.5 meters are allowed to dock.The length of the jetty is 280 meters and the width is 30 meters;There are three anchorages outside the jetty, with a water depth of 10-12m.The North concave bank of the jetty is the proposed new harbor basin. At present, vessels with draft of 6.5m are allowed to dock in the new harbor basin.The oil tanker terminal is located in the east of the off shore Cape DES, with two berths with a depth of 13 meters. It is allowed to moor oil tankers with a maximum length of 220 meters and a draft of 11.5 meters.The port, once known as Sihanouk port, was built in the 1960s. It is a deep-water port with a small island as a natural breakwater.
