About this equipment
In 1954 re-engined with a 4 stroke diesel engine 6cyl (135 x 195mm), 95bhp by L. Gardner & Sons Ltd., Manchester
PANURGIC is a Grab Hopper Dredger and was built in 1935 by J S Watson (Gainsborough) Limited for the River Trent Catchment Board. During her working life she had initially a Gardner diesel engine producing 95 bhp. When working she had 4 winches and a crane.
Although she served on the River Trent for many years there is a gap in her history until Lloyds Register for 1995/96 shows her on the River Dart and owned by Philip & Son Limited; she was classed in Lloyds Register until March 1986. PANURGIC was bought by Steven Wells, converted to a house boat and moved to Barnstable. She now lies at Bideford with her engine and crane removed.
