Churruca" was built according to a design by M.Batho, and is quite different from the ordinary bucket ladder dredger. The dredging gear consists of two Bruce's patent excavators, (hence the name Batho and Bruce type dredger) each capable of containing 5 tonnes of dredged soil, being so constructed as to open in three sections and dig into the ground, and then to close and the grasp the load they are intended tor raise.
The whole of the motions as of opening and shutting are performed by hydraulic pressure.
The whole structure combines a dredger, tug and a fire engine.
Broken up in 1934
