About this equipment
Bucketdredger WELS is closely linked to the history of Lubeck. The ship was built by the Lubecker Maschinen Gesellschaft (LMG) and used for dredging work on the Trave and Wakenitz. In 1991, it was threatened with scrapping and the Museumshafen Lubeck took over the WELS.
The WELS has been renovated several times (1991, 2007 and 2020), sponsored by job creation measures or the Possehl Foundation.
